The Ultimate Cheeseburger

This is over the top comfort food in a truly delicious cheeseburger.


  • 3 shallots, minced

  • 1 T corn starch

  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)

  • 1 large yellow onion, slivered

  • 1 lb lean ground beef

  • salt, to taste

  • pepper, to taste

  • 4 slices cheese of your choice

  • 12 dill pickle sandwich slices

  • 4 burger buns

  • Sauce
  • 2 shallots, minced

  • 1 T ketchup

  • 1 T yellow mustard

  • 1 T mayo

  • 1 T relish

  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper, or to taste


  • Mince shallots, and heat up vegetable oil in saucepan or skillet.
  • Set aside two of the minced shallots in a bowl, coat the other three in corn starch and fry until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel and salt to taste.
  • Add your slivered onion to a saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring frequently, for 10 minutes or until caramelized.
  • To your bowl with raw minced shallots add ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, and cayenne pepper to taste. Mix to combine.
  • Add ground beef to a bowl and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Mix well. Form the beef into four patties of equal size.
  • Heat frying pan over medium heat with a quarter inch of vegetable oil (you can use the oil from your shallots). Add patties, ensuring they don’t touch. Flip patties and add desired cheese. Cover with a lid so cheese melts, and cook to desired doneness.
  • Time to assemble your burgers. Slather both pieces of burger buns with sauce. To the bottom bun add pickles, caramelized onions, burger patty, top with fried shallots, and finish off with the top part of the bun. Enjoy!
